Ruth Davidson MSP and leadership panels headline Airmic Fest

Former Scottish Conservatives leader Ruth Davidson MSP will deliver the keynote address at Airmic Fest, and is one of three must watch sessions during the virtual event.

Ms Davidson, who led the Scottish Conservatives for eight years and a played prominent role in both the Scottish independence and EU referendum campaigns will be speaking from 2 – 3pm on Thursday, 24 September.

Drawing on experiences including being the first openly gay leader of a major political party in the UK, the first party leader to give birth while in office, and a former BBC journalist and Territorial Army soldier, Ms Davidson will address the importance of leadership, individual expression and cultivating trust within large organisations.

“Ruth Davidson would have been addressing us in person at Edinburgh in June so we are delighted she has agreed to provide her perspective on current events and her outlook on leadership at Airmic Fest,” John Ludlow, CEO of Airmic, says.

“Ms Davidson has many stories to share and a quite unique experience in British politics that will be fascinating to hear.”

Days one and two will each begin with a leadership panel debate. On Day One, from 9.45 – 10.45 the topic for debate will be No going back - rethinking business and society - Creativity in action driven by people working together.

A team of business leaders will reflect on how organisations and society responded to the unprecedented changes experienced in 2020 and what challenges lay ahead for leadership teams and top management. The panel will discuss the challenges they have faced, their responses and their perceptions of the future.

On the morning of Day Two Ailsa King (Client Chief Office, Marsk UK & Ireland), Anthony Baldwin (CEO UK, AIG), Claire McDonald (Managing Director, HDI Global), Matthew Wilson (President & CEO, Travelers Europe) and Sean McGovern (CEO, UK & Lloyd’s market, AXA XL) will address Working together – the risk financing entrepreneurs.

Each speaker will address how they are changing the way they do business to better support clients as they build resilience and success in their organisations, before a panel discussion on the challenges they have faced along the way.
