Airmic members are invited to put themselves forward for election to the FERMA board at its General Assembly in Brussels this June.
Candidates are required to apply in writing and then to present for five minutes during the General Assembly before member associations cast their votes.
This year there will be at least four seats to fill which is a significant change in the board composition and an opportunity for new members to make an impact. The board has 12 directors and the term of office is three years. A director can serve a maximum of three terms.
Being a FERMA director is a fun and diverse experience, reflects Airmic member Xavier Mutzig who will stand down from the FERMA board this year, having served the maximum nine years in office:
“It is a great opportunity for any risk manager to become involved and visible on the international stage, to share and exchange with peers on hot topics and trends in the global profession, and to network with senior risk management professionals and national association leaders from 23 European countries and beyond.”
Who should apply?
The ideal candidate is an experienced risk professional or director from a large multi-national organisation who relishes driving change and innovation.
Directors do not represent their national associations, and they contribute as risk management professionals, in their individual capacity and speaking in their name, promoting the profession.
FERMA directors are expected to attend quarterly board meetings, a two-day annual strategy meeting and the Federation’s annual conference in October. In-person attendance to board meetings is preferred, but there is the option for remote participation.
If the director’s employer does not pay for the associated expenses, FERMA will cover all travel and accommodation costs.
FERMA is a Brussels based non-profit federation which brings together 23 risk management national associations, including Airmic, in 23 European countries, representing over 6000 risk professionals. It coordinates risk management and optimizes the impact of these associations at a European level.
If you are interested in becoming a director of FERMA please contact Airmic’s head of finance, Kat Hickson, by 30 April, setting out in no more than 400 words why you would like to be considered. Please include your name, employer, current role and business contact details. Kat’s email is: kat.hickson@airmic.com.
All expressions of interest will be considered by a meeting of the Airmic Executive in May.
