Airmic Field Trip to Ricardo – 30 November

Published on Mon, 31/10/2022 - 13:43

The second Airmic Field Trip on offer in November will be a visit to Ricardo, an advisory active in the engineering, automotive and renewable energy sectors.

Ricardo will host an Airmic Field Trip to its Shoreham technical centre and head office (pictured) on 30 November.

With a focus on maximising efficiency and eliminating waste, Ricardo is a global strategic engineering and environmental consultancy that specialises in the transport, energy and scarce resources sectors.

Ricardo’s work extends across a range of market sectors, including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, rail, defence, motorsport, energy and environment.

In addition to technical consultancy services, Ricardo has in-house engineering capabilities that enable it to design and deliver high-quality prototypes and low-volume manufacturing of complex products and assemblies, including engines, transmissions, electric motors and generators, battery packs and fuel cell systems.

The facility at Shoreham is home to around 700 engineers, technicians and professional support staff, working across a wide range of specialisms and departments.

The Shoreham site hosts a number of test cells, an emissions research centre, a niche engine assembly line and the Ricardo centenary innovation centre.

Adam Ireland, Airmic’s Head of Learning, said: “Featuring presentations from key members of the Ricardo team, group activities and a tour of the Ricardo site, the day will run from 9.30am – 3pm, and promises to be an exciting and fascinating event with a strong focus on innovation, ESG and climate change, and will be of particular interest to those managing and developing approaches to ESG risks and opportunities.

“Creative and innovative in their design, Field Trips are designed to give Airmic members the exclusive opportunity to get away from their day-to-day work and explore in-depth key operations at chosen organisations in environments that might be less familiar to them,” said Adam.

“Not only are they free to Airmic members, they offer a great way of networking with fellow professionals and also boosting your CPD hours,” he added.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided, with members expected to cover their own travel costs. Numbers are capped at 16, so places are limited for this exclusive event and are provided on a first come, first served basis.

Book your place by emailing fieldtrips@airmic.com by 16 November 2022.
