Airmic responds to the Government’s announcement of a four-week extension before implementing Step Four of its Roadmap out of lockdown.

Airmic’s Annual Conference 2021 remains set to go ahead 5 and 6 October and

Julia Graham, Airmic’s CEO, has signalled that planning for the event in Brighton continues.

“We are confident the event will go ahead. The Government’s four week postponement in implementing Step Four of the Roadmap, from 21 June to 19 July, has not changed this” she said.

At the start of the journey to organise the 2021 Airmic Conference in Brighton, Airmic undertook to make a final decision to commit to its preparations at the end of June, based on the Government’s Roadmap out of lockdown.

At the start of this week the UK Government announced a four-week extension of restrictions before implementing Step Four of its Roadmap.

“The Government’s delay has not changed our commitment but it has changed one important aspect of our contingency planning. Arrangements with the Brighton Conference Centre allow us the flexibility to defer the final commitment date with the Centre and to defer our final decision by a month without a financial penalty,” Airmic’s CEO said.

“We will continue to consult our members and partners and to take decisions supported by our risk assessment, associated contingency plans, and advice from external health, safety and legal experts, to ensure a safe and successful 2021 Airmic Conference for all,” she added.

Registrations for the conference open 1 August.
