First risk management conference close to selling out

The full line up of speakers for Airmic’s first risk management conference, the ERM Forum, has been revealed.

Former BBC news presenter and journalist Nik Gowing will be giving the opening keynote. According to Gowing, now a visiting professor at Kings College London, a proliferation of ‘unthinkable’ events over the past few years has revealed a new fragility at the highest level of both the private and public sectors.

Known for his cutting edge analysis, Gowing will discuss the opportunities and responsibilities for risk managers in this new age of radical uncertainty.

The closing speech will be delivered by Richard Sermon, chairman of the Chairman’s Forum. He will offer advice on how to have an effective board risk conversation, drawing on a report to be published later this month by CIMA, supported by Airmic, the Chairman’s Forum and Alverez & Marcel.

Other speakers during the day include Gianvito Lanzolla of City business school; Colin Campbell, head of risk management and compliance at Arcadia; Karen Harris, managing director at Intu Properties; and Andy Cox, director at Control Risks.

The ERM Forum, the first risk management conference hosted by Airmic, has been well-received with places nearly fully booked, the association said.

The one-day event will be for risk professionals of all levels and aims to provide the essential building blocks for risk managers to excel in enterprise risk management and to raise their profile within their company.

The event will also include a small exhibition attended by Airmic service providers from the risk management sector (see box).
