    This episode of Airmic Talks was recorded in Dublin where we recently held the Airmic Island of Ireland Conference on 19 November. The event had speakers across a range of topics, including geopolitics and captives, tariffs and sustainable building practices, and parametrics and the local insurance market.

    In this episode, Richard interviews three of the speakers at the conference.

    First, we will hear from Mike Matthews, Commercial Director for EMEA & APAC at Artex Risk Solutions, on recent activity in Ireland’s captive market.

    Richard is then joined by Hugh Governey, manager of market development at Lloyd’s, who provides a tribute to Eamonn Egan, a well-known and respected insurance Ieader in Ireland, Lloyd’s country manager for Ireland since 2008 and a close friend of Airmic’s. Eamonn sadly passed away in June this year, and is missed greatly by the team at Airmic.

    And last but not least, we hear from Robert Tyrell, General Manager at Campion insurance brokers, on the SME market for insurance and priorities for Irish small to medium sized businesses.

    Richard welcomes Peter Carter, Head of WTW’s Climate Practice as well as Head of Captive & Insurance Management Solutions at the broker, onto the podcast.

    In a 15 minute discussion, Peter explains how the broker is addressing climate challenges for its clients, the technology that is supporting ever more sophisticated data and analytical tools and the value of insurance in relation to climate developments.

    Richard and Scott also discuss what a catastrophic cyber loss would look be the commercial market and how the response may play out.
