Ukraine crisis: update on support for members

The pandemic, climate change and now events in Ukraine are forcing organisations to rethink how they keep up with new risks and changes in known risks and adapt risk management practices to the new environment.

To help members manage the exposures from the conflict in Ukraine, Airmic is focussing its efforts on providing information and advice resources and the opportunity for members to share knowledge and experience through special interest groups (SIGs).

“Most Airmic members come from large organisations with global operations, so they are naturally exposed to a wide range of implications from the Ukraine crisis – people risks, sanctions, supply chain disruption and energy supply issues,” says Airmic Research Manager Hoe-Yeong Loke.

“Airmic is taking a joined-up approach in guiding our members through this generation-defining crisis, as a reflection of the interconnected risks this conflict has brought.”

The Ukraine resource page on the Airmic website, supported by our partners and other contacts, provides a risk radar for members and the wider risk community. We know from our members that these topics are high among their concerns:

There is also a general resources page. We are updating these pages regularly.

Special interest groups

For our members, we are organising meetings of SIGS in response to their wishes. The Geopolitical SIG has been the most active with two meetings during March, including one with a focus on energy. Another is planned for May.

For these meetings, Airmic chooses expert speakers, such as security analysts, lawyers, brokers and insurers who can provide authoritative and up to date information. The SIGs also give members an opportunity to exchange experiences and concerns in a Chatham House Rule environment.
