Airmic's enterprise risk management special interest group (ERM SIG) kicked off its first meeting with great success, with over 30 members gathering to discuss topical ERM challenges, and how different organisational operating models can affect the risk framework.

The meeting, hosted by KPMG, was oversubscribed and generated lively debate with members enjoying the chance to learn from experts and peers in their field.

"It was fantastic to get so many senior ERM managers in one place and discuss the huge variety on how businesses approach ERM," commented Georgina Wainwright, Airmic's market development manager.

"Almost every member had a slightly different remit but experienced the same challenges in demonstrating the value of risk, communicating risk and getting organisational buy-in for their initiatives."

The next meeting, on 5 July, will discuss the skills and knowledge needed in the future risk manager's toolkit. The November meeting - date to be confirmed - will discuss measuring and communicating the value of risk management to the business. The meeting is open to all Airmic members; to register interest, please email Ms Wainwright at georgina.wainwright@airmic.com.
