Says she wants to support businesses embrace risk management

Claire Combes, director of risk and assurance at intu, will be Airmic's next second deputy chair, with effect from June 5 at the association's annual general meeting.

Ms Combes has served on the Airmic board for three years, and currently chairs the risk management steering group.

John Ludlow, CEO, said he is "delighted" about Claire's appointment. "She brings a zeal for what we do and stand for that will ensure that Airmic continues to serve our members' needs."

Ms Combes said that she is "passionate" about Airmic: "I believe that it is an organisation that provides significant value for its members and personally has supported me through my career and personal development. As the world changes, Airmic will only become more relevant to its existing (and future) members."

She said she believes strongly in the role Airmic can play in providing support to teams across the entire business, helping them to "embrace risk management". Speaking of her own company, intu, she said its corporate membership supports a huge array of teams, not just insurance and risk, but data, health & safety, security, PR and many others.

"I believe that other organisations could benefit from expanding their membership to support a wider range of functions, something which is free for companies with more than six members."

She added: "I'm looking forward to supporting the next two chairs, before chairing Airmic myself, to achieve our visions to meet Airmic members' needs in the future."
