Airmic to launch mentoring scheme

Airmic is set to launch a new mentoring scheme for members, facilitated by an easy to use online portal allowing professionals to become matched as a mentee or mentor.

The goal is to work mutually to develop skills and capabilities as well as advance careers for the benefit of all.

Mentoring is generally defined as a relationship between two people with the goal of professional and personal development. The "mentor" is usually an experienced individual who shares knowledge, experience, and advice with a less experienced person, or "mentee".

Mentors become trusted advisers and role models – people who have "been there" and "done that”, and support and encourage their mentees by offering suggestions and knowledge, both general and specific.

A mentoring partnership may be between two people within the same company, same industry, or same networking organisation. However the two parties come together, the relationship should be based on mutual trust and respect.

Members are encouraged to consider what mentoring can do for them, not least in these uncertain times when experience and collaboration have so much to offer.

Airmic will be communicating out to all members over the coming weeks with more detail of the scheme and how to register interest.
