Businesses unprepared for global risks, Gowing to warn

Nik Gowing, former BBC news journalist and academic, will be presenting the opening keynote speech at Airmic 2017, the association has announced.

Gowing’s research has revealed the alarming extent to which businesses are unprepared for today’s global risks, especially in the area of cyber. According to Gowing, a visiting professor at Kings College London, a proliferation of “unthinkable” events over the past few years has revealed a fragility in the world order. Gowing will present the findings of his research and challenge delegates to take a non-conformist approach to managing risk.

Known for his cutting edge analysis, Gowing presented at Airmic’s ERM Forum in November, and is returning to the annual conference by popular demand, the association said.

Registration for the annual conference at the ICC in Birmingham in June opened last month. Journalist and broadcaster Andrew Marr will be giving the closing keynote speech, and Airmic announced last month that BBC news anchor Huw Edwards will be chairing the Leadership Debate Panel on Tuesday.
