In today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, artificial intelligence plays a pivotal role in driving innovation across various industries. However, with innovation comes the responsibility to ensure ethical practices are upheld in the development, deployment and use of AI systems. This event aims to provide leaders with a comprehensive understanding of the ethical considerations surrounding AI technologies and the necessary strategies for navigating these complexities effectively.

Speakers

Dr Ian Peters MBE - Director, Institute of Business Ethics

Ian Peters has been Director of the Institute of Business Ethics since May 2020. Previous roles have included Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (UK and Ireland,) Director of External Affairs at the Engineering Employers Federation (EEF), Deputy Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce, Head of SME Policy at the Confederation of British Industry, and a period in public relations for PR agency Burson-Marsteller.

Ian serves on a number of ethics-related external bodies including: the PRCA Ethics Council, the CISI Integrity Committee and the UCL Centre for Ethics and Law Advisory Panel. Previous appointments include Chair of the Independent Monitoring Panel of the UK Chartered Banker Professional Standards Board, member of the UK Regulatory Policy Committee and its predecessor, the Better Regulation Task Force, and member of the Court of the University of Lancaster. He holds a PhD from Southampton University on the role of small businesses in economic growth and a BA in Geography from the University of Lancaster. In 2015 Ian was awarded an MBE for services to regulatory reform in the UK.

 

 

Annabel Gillard

Annabel advises clients navigating AI-driven transformation while making workplaces more human and values-led to build trust. She co-founded 'Conversations on AI', a cross-sector tech ethics network, and is a member of the City of London Corporation's 'Women Pivoting to Digital Taskforce'. She is also working on the ethics of influence and the importance of organisational culture as a source of investment return. Previously, she spent 20 years building institutional asset managment businesses and serves on the advisory councils of the Institute of Business Ethics International and Blueprint for a Better Business. She has an MA in Philosophy and AI, an MSc in Behavioural Science and is a CFA charter holder.
