Academy Workshop: Effective and Pragmatic Risk Management

4th November 2026 10:00 – 11:00

Effective and Pragmatic Risk Management: Turning Risk Thinking into Opportunity

In today's dynamic and uncertain environment, organisations must view risk management as more than a compliance exercise or a process for avoiding threats. When embedded effectively, risk management becomes a strategic enabler that supports better decision-making, strengthens resilience, improves performance and unlocks opportunities.

This webinar explores how organisations can integrate risk thinking into strategy, business planning and day-to-day operations to support sustainable success. We will discuss practical approaches to implementing risk management and overcoming common challenges, including overly complex frameworks, limited stakeholder engagement, weak alignment to operational processes and demonstrating value beyond compliance requirements.

The session will also examine the importance of effective risk governance, including clear accountability, robust oversight and appropriate escalation processes that ensure risks are managed consistently and transparently while supporting strategic objectives.

We will explore how a strong risk culture encourages openness, accountability, psychological safety and informed decision-making at all levels of the organisation. In addition, we will discuss the critical role of leadership in defining and communicating risk appetite and reinforcing behaviours that support effective risk management.

By the end of the webinar, participants will have developed ideas and strategies as to how they can influence;

-          the embedding of risk management into business activities

-          strengthening governance

-          building a proactive risk culture

-          alignment of risk-taking with organisational objectives.

By the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Make the case for risk management as a strategic enabler to support decision-making, resilience and organisational performance.
  • Identify and develop strategies to support the embedding of risk thinking into strategy, planning and day-to-day operations to create business value beyond compliance.
  • Develop strategies to support the strengthening of risk governance, culture and accountability through effective oversight, clear responsibilities and open communication.
  • Explain some of the hurdles and objections which get in the way of good risk management
  • Apply ideas and strategies to improve engagement with stakeholders outside of ‘risk’.
