Keeping Pace

The risk agenda is getting bigger and moving faster. Our focus is what members need from us.

It has been a busy few weeks with our Guernsey conference, followed by a week of client forums, and then three days at the FERMA Forum in Rotterdam.

Geopolitics and volatility, supply chains, people risk, climate risk, and of course, misinformation and disinformation were all on the agenda.

The degree to which each of those risks impacts our members varies greatly, but the overall challenge remains the same. It’s a lot. And in the midst of that sits AI, promising opportunity, but also a new chink in the cyber armour if we get it wrong.

Everything is speeding up exponentially, which is arguably presenting challenges to already stretched resources.

Airmic’s job is to try to lighten the load by providing insights, learning and development, peer support through special interest groups, subject matter expertise, practical help, thought leadership, and hopefully some community and an exchange of wisdom.

We are working on a number of core themes. These include the role of the risk manager in the business and how to engage effectively with the board; where AI can support the work instead of just adding to it; what big risks are now shifting from emerging to business-as-usual; and what core skills are needed to deal with the ongoing volatility and fast pace of change.

Work is underway to sharpen and build our ability to do all those things and we have three new roles advertised this week. Please look out for them and share where you can!
