Airmic CEO John Hurrell has been “delighted” with the strength of response to the technical director vacancy. Paul Hopkin announced last month that he will be stepping down after eight years in the job.
“We’ve received interest from some very senior, high calibre candidates which is very encouraging. It is a reflection on Airmic’s strong reputation in the market and I am looking forward to meeting the candidates and announcing Paul’s successor in due course.”
The technical director role will drive Airmic’s strategy behind its member-focused technical programme which delivers ground-breaking research, thought leadership and influential lobbying with external parties.
“Our current technical programme is the most demanding ever with over 20 projects underway. 2015 will be a critically important year for Airmic as we continue to raise the profile of risk management, provide leadership for the industry and support our members' needs,” Hurrell added.
Hopkin was Airmic’s first technical director and has established Airmic’s technical programme from scratch, producing a series of guides on issues ranging from cyber risk to basis clauses. He has also taken a leading role in flagship projects such as Roads to Resilience and Efficacy of Business Insurance.
Hurrell commented: “Our reputation for delivering excellent guides and research is entirely down to Paul’s personal efforts and his outstanding capability and experience. Paul will add huge value wherever his career now takes him. We wish him every success and he leaves with our profound gratitude.”
