Airmic announces major virtual risk festival

Airmic 15th May 2020

Airmic, the UK association for risk and insurance professionals, has announced it will be hosting a major three-day virtual festival in September for risk and insurance professionals and the wider risk and insurance community.

Airmic Fest will take place on 22 – 24 September 2020 and is expected to be the biggest ever online risk management event in the UK. The three-day programme will include a combination of webinars, bite-sized HUB sessions, high-profile speakers, panel debates and online networking opportunities as well as a festival floor where exhibitors can showcase.

The decision to create a major online event was made in response to large-scale industry events not taking place during the COVID-19 pandemic, including Airmic’s own annual conference, combined with an accelerating demand for digital services, the association said.

“We are all incredibly excited about Airmic Fest,” said John Ludlow, Airmic CEO. “These are really challenging times for the risk community and the UK generally, so we wanted to do something bold, new and positive.”

Mr Ludlow added: “One of the welcome consequences of the pandemic crisis has been our members’ fantastic adoption of virtual networking and learning. We have seen record online attendance of events and – even more importantly – we have reached new audiences around the UK and beyond. Airmic Fest is the opportunity to consolidate this progress.”

Airmic Fest will adopt the association’s theme for 2020 which is Working Together, a concept designed to encourage progress through collaboration.

Airmic Fest will be free to all Airmic members. Details about the programme and how non-members can attend will be released in the coming months.
