America’s risk management society RIMS has announced Gary LaBranche will take over as CEO from 1 June, with Mary Roth retiring after 37 years with the society.
LaBranche (pictured) has been President & CEO of Virginia-based NIRI – The Association for Investor Relations since March 2017. He has previously worked for the Association for Corporate Growth, the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as well as RIMS’ Chicago chapter on their Chicagoland event.
“Risk management makes the world safer, more secure and more sustainable,” said LaBranche.
“I am honoured to be asked to help advance that important work and pave the way for this dynamic professional community’s continued success. I appreciate all that Mary Roth and the RIMS team have accomplished and look forward to partnering with RIMS leaders and this Society’s powerful and engaged community to continue that legacy.”
Julia Graham, Airmic CEO, welcomed Gary’s impending appointment and said she looked forward to continuing a strong relationship with the society across the pond.
“Mary has been an important voice on the global risk management platform – including her work with the international association, IFRIMA. RIMS has always been a close and valued partner of Airmic, as we both strive to improve and promote risk management and insurance practices,” she said.
“I look forward to welcoming Gary and continuing to develop that relationship.”
Outgoing CEO Mary Roth joined RIMS 37 years ago within the Society’s Research and Education department, before progressing through the ranks to CEO.
“I am so proud of the progress we have made, the barriers we have broken and all the milestones we have achieved,” she said.
