In a speech at the Dinner, Clarke hailed the progress made in getting risk higher on the boardroom agenda, saying: “I think we know and understand that our profession is in the process of a huge transformational change as we look to enhance risk culture and leadership in our companies.”

He also warned of the “critical challenges” facing risk managers and businesses as the world moves “ever-more rapidly” into the digitalised world: “We have to adapt to change to be relevant to our customers, remain competitive and deliver value wherever and whenever we can.”

Comedian Miles Jupp, a regular on Mock the Week and Radio 4’s The News Quiz, raised many laughs as he poked fun at the risk and insurance profession. Meanwhile, the soul band Tommy T & the Belle Tones proved a popular addition to the event and made sure the party continued into the small hours of the evening.
