Rush of joiners swells fastTrack ranks

Published on Fri, 03/01/2014 - 00:00

fastTrack, the Airmic initiative to support new risk managers, has gone live. A late show of interest in December swelled the membership at launch to over 125. Anyone eligible wishing to join should go to http://www.airmicfasttrack.com

fastTrack caters for young people in their first or second jobs and for older professionals who have recently acquired insurance-buying or other risk management responsibilities. It is free to join for Airmic members, and there is no charge for attending its events.

The committee (see inset) is at an advanced stage of putting together a programme; it will include opportunities to train in ten aspects of insurance buying and wider risk management, with two sets of five sessions for each one. The workshops will be run by senior figures from Airmic’s partner organisations, and the first registrations will go live during January. The topics, to run throughout 2014, are:

Insurance

  • Principles of insurance
  • Administration of insurance programmes
  • Structure and placement of insurance programmes
  • Insurance contracts
  • Claims

Risk

  • Risk agenda
  • Risk assessment
  • Risk response
  • Risk communication
  • Risk governance

Welcome to the annual conference [library pic of conference]

The Airmic annual conference is by far the greatest risk management gathering in the UK, but some younger members have said they are put off going because such occasions are dominated by senior risk managers.

At this year’s event, however, there will be an area of the venue set aside for fastTrackers, who will also have their own social event. Attendance is free to members, so why not give it a go?
