Nicholas Bailey the new Airmic chair as Helen Hayden joins Chris McGloin as deputy
The new Airmic chair Nicholas Bailey plans to drive home some of the key objectives that Airmic has put in place during the past year through its newly agreed ten-year strategy. This apart, he believes the association is on a sound footing and has no wish to introduce a dramatic new initiative or direction
“We’re a well-run organisation and, whilst I’m sure issues will come up where we will have something to say, I’m not going to pursue change for change’s sake,” he said.
An Airmic member for fifteen years, during which time he has attended every annual conference, Bailey has been group risk manager for BBA Aviation plc for the past decade. He previously chaired the Programme Committee (now Events and Membership), which oversees the annual conference, and has been on the Insurance Steering Group since 2009. He first became one of the two deputy chairs in 2010.
Helen Hayden, Group Insurance Risk Manager at the Prudential, is the new second Airmic deputy chair. She joins Chris McGloin, who has been in that post since last year.
Two senior Board members step down
Colin Campbell and Robert Parry have left the board, having served for the nine years that is normally the maximum allowed. Both have been active in many aspects of Airmic, and Campbell chaired the association from 2007-2008.
“I am sure we will continue to see a lot of Colin and Robert even though they are not on the board, but would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their immense contributions over the years,” said chief executive John Hurrell.
The make-up of the new board will be announced after its July meeting. Campbell remains chair of the Finance Committee.
