The ladies’ networking lunch that kicked off last year’s annual conference is back by popular demand for this year’s event in Liverpool.
The Women in Business lunch, sponsored by Rushton International and Willis, is designed to raise the profile of women in the risk management profession and is open to all female conference delegates. Last year’s lunch was the first of its kind, and received exceptionally positive feedback with many attendees asking for it to become a regular feature.
This year’s event will be opened by Ailsa King, head of sales for Willis GB, and will conclude with a talk by Susan Davies, managing director of Rushton International.
Airmic chair Helen-Clare Pope has made diversity, including raising the profile of women, a priority in her year at the helm. Pope has noted that although 40% of Airmic members are women, they are typically under-represented at industry events.
Airmic member Kathryn Howard, a solicitor at law firm O’Connors, attended the lunch last year and said it was a great opportunity to get to know other women in the industry: “It was a lively and informative event; Julia Graham spoke of what women have achieved in insurance and the importance of regular training which was highly motivating. It was great to have so many of us in the one room – women passionate about insurance, which for so long has been a male-dominated sector.”
Delegates wishing to sign up for the event can email gemma.warren@airmic.com
