fastTrack to host first conference

Airmic’s fastTrack scheme has announced it will be holding its first conference in February next year. FastTrack Forum: Tomorrow’s Risk Leaders will give Airmic's younger and less-experienced members the chance to network, attend educational workshops and hear from more established members of the risk management and insurance professions.

Helen-Clare Pope, Airmic chair, expressed strong support for the conference: “This is an excellent chance for younger Airmic members who may not be able to attend the main Airmic conference to benefit from the same networking and learning opportunities with people at a similar stage in their career.

"It promises to be a very exciting event, and is a real tribute to the early success of the fastTrack scheme.”

Highlights of the programme include a speech from Andrew Kendrick, president of ACE European Group, a panel debate on the future of the insurance market chaired by Airmic CEO John Hurrell, and a closing speech from the president of FERMA, Julia Graham. There will also be workshops on emerging risks and business skills.

The one-day event will be held in London at the Willis Building. All sessions will be aimed at those with less than five years in risk management. It will be followed by Airmic’s annual lecture – open to all members – with guest speaker Stephen Hester, CEO of RSA.

FastTrack was launched in January this year, and has quickly become established; its inaugural conference is a key mile-stone in its development. Kate Wallin, fastTrack chair, said that she is extremely proud that fastTrack is hosting its first conference, and urged all new and young Airmic members to attend - regardless of whether they have been involved in the scheme so far.  "I have said time and again that networking is so important for people’s careers."

She added that feedback from fastTrack members suggests that large conferences can be daunting for those who have yet to build their own network of contacts. "This event is therefore designed to be more accessible. We want it to be a fun and informative way of meeting peers and developing professional skills.”

Full details of the event, including the speaker line-up, will be released later this year. Anyone wishing to register interest in the conference should email Georgina Wainwright at georgina.wainwright@airmic.co.uk.
