Two members of the Airmic board celebrated success at the most prestigious awards ceremony in the insurance calendar.
Colin Barker, group risk manager at Bayer, won the Risk Management Award, while David Hertzell, former law commissioner, won the Achievement Award.
David Hertzell, who was closely involved in getting the 2015 Insurance Act into law, said that he was “delighted” to receive the award: “I was supported by an outstanding team of people at the Law Commission and by helpful and informed engagement from all sides of the insurance market, very much including Airmic. In reality the award is a reflection of our collective efforts.”
Barker also thanked the team effort behind his award: “I am delighted that all of the combined achievements over more than a decade of our former risk management department, health and safety, insurance, legal and compliance, security and resilience, group motor fleet and all our business partners, in establishing an enterprise risk management culture at Bayer plc have been formally recognised.”
The BIA awards ceremony typically attracts over 2000 industry big hitters for a night of entertainment and celebration. This year’s ceremony took place at the Royal Albert Hall on 8 July.
