Airmic conference heads for new high
With five weeks to go, the number of Airmic members already enrolled for the annual conference stood at 340. This means that the event has already attracted more risk managers and insurance buyers than ever before, with others certain to sign up between now and June 10. The overall number of delegates looks highly likely to beat last year’s record of 816. The exhibition is also going to be bigger than ever.
“Success breeds success. Last year’s gathering in Liverpool has got people talking about the Airmic annual conference and helped to make it an un-missable date in the calendar for a growing number of people,” said chief executive John Hurrell.
“We’re especially delighted at the number of members attending. It doesn’t matter how good the speakers are – and we would like to think they are very good – delegates make the conference what it is. No other event in the UK gives practitioners the same opportunity to mix informally and exchange ideas.”
Workshop news
RSA have amended the theme of their session, to be held on the morning Tuesday 12 June, though it continues to address the issue of risk management during a recession. Details below:
A8: Risk Management in the recession: How do you keep your CEO and your insurers happy at the same time
As the recession continues, we are all seeing the implications of increased long term financial pressure on businesses, but what are the specific risk features that are being seen? How can these be managed?
Our workshop this year will be hosted by Laurence O’Connor of RSA’s Global Consulting Team and will share insight on how businesses are responding to global recession and how you can manage some of the resultant risk features and opportunities.
This will be an interactive session working through some of the key issues of managing your asset risks such as reputational risk and brand management, supply chain management and securing/prioritising funds
Carbon neutral
To offset the carbon impact of the conference, Airmic is arranging for trees to be planted at The Crossing, which is located on the outskirts of Forest row on the border between East and West Sussex.
