Airmic Academy – marks its fifth year with further expansion of its training programme for members

It is now so well established that it is hard to believe Airmic Academy has been going little more than four years and was once seen as a step into the unknown. Total attendance at its sessions is approaching two thousand, bringing together small groups of practitioners to discuss risk management and insurance topics with specialists.

In the recent Salary and Status survey, the Academy came up as one of the top three benefits of Airmic membership, with 60% of respondents describing it as one of their main sources of information about new developments in risk management. Partner organisations and recognised service providers are the main sources of expertise, giving members and the association’s main supporters the opportunity to learn from each other.

2013 sees the Academy grow yet again. Fifty sessions have already been arranged, and more are certain to be added to the calendar. That beats last year’s record of 43 Academies, which had an aggregate attendance of 566. Some of the sessions will take place outside London.

Take a look at the Academy schedule. We look forward to seeing you. >

Message from Airmic Academy director David Gamble.

“To any Airmic member who has never attended an Academy, we hope that you will find time to come and experience why it is prospering so strongly and see if its formula of well-presented interactive sessions on risk management and insurance issues could be of value to you and your team. If you are a new member, then we extend an especial welcome as the Academy is a good way to experience how the Airmic community can learn and discuss the topics of interest to members and the market.

“From our side we hope to mingle experts and novices amongst the attendees as that helps with the interactive sessions. No relevant question is too basic to ask and most of the basic questions get asked by your Academy Chairman anyhow just to make sure that everyone is on the same page.

“Senior Airmic members stretch the presenters and test their replies in ways which are of benefit to all, including the presenters. During an Academy session they can learn a great deal about what their target market really wants or doesn’t want, which is one of the main reasons for their enthusiasm for these events. We are very grateful for their support.”
