Airmic Academy continues to grow as attendances break new records

Now entering its fourth year, the Academy had aggregate attendances of 278 in the twelve months to the end of July – an increase of 13%.

Airmic Academy was an instant hit when it was launched in the summer of 2009. These figures show that, far from being just a one-off success, demand is both sustained and increasing.

“What is particularly encouraging is that at every academy there are at least two or three members who have not been before. Some of them have only just recently joined. For them it’s their introduction to the Airmic experience,” says Academy director David Gamble.

The plan in the coming year is to maintain momentum with around 40-45 Academy workshops. As before, four of them will be outside London – in Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Airmic Academies are typically highly interactive and designed for around fifteen participants. They are usually led by specialists from Airmic partner organisations or service providers. Some of the most popular sessions are filled within hours of first being advertised.

Their success has helped lift the percentage of members attending at least one Airmic event to well over 50% – a rare achievement for a professional association.
