The role
Following the merger of Legacy Southern Housing Group and Legacy Optivo to form Southern Housing we’re looking for an exceptional candidate who wants to make a difference and thrives in a challenging environment. If you have a proven track record within corporate insurance this role may just be for you!
This is a hybrid working role (Minimum two days in the office) which can be based from our Farringdon or Sittingbourne Offices.

You’ll be the organisational lead working directly with Director of Property Information and Insurance, you are responsible for the development and delivery of the insurance strategy, managing the insurance policies and the insurance team.  You’ll be an excellent communicator, able to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.  Be very motivated, social, and want to implement change. Able to collate significant volumes of information into infographics and have a high degree of literacy and skill in preparing papers.

We’re looking for…
Subject matter expert with experience at a senior level with knowledge of corporate insurance who will be able to develop an insurance strategy which will deliver best practice.
Manage the business’ current insurance policies ensuring appropriate cover is always maintained and remains compliant with our statutory and regulatory obligations.
Lead & drive insurance team to efficiently and robustly working through claims and ensuring processes are in place to take the best risk-based decisions and to embed learning from claims into our operations
Excellent communicator who can effectively engage at all levels and present complex information in an accessible way

What you’ll need

  • Extensive experience of leading on an insurance programme within a large organisation including renewals and tenders, excess structures, and types of cover. Including but not limited to our property, employers’ liability, public liability, motor, and cyber security
  • Demonstrable experience of successful supplier negotiations
  • Experience in making finely balanced judgements on a reasoned basis considering lots of complex issues
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge of the legislation, regulatory and technical frameworks relating to insurance
  • Proven ability to understand and interpret data / financial information to inform decisions that minimise risk and lead to the delivery of efficient value for money services
  • Good communication skills, both orally and written, using a range of techniques and tools to convey messages
  • Able to present complex information in a clear, transparent, and readily understandable manner
  • Work effectively, in conjunction with others within and outside the directorate to deliver objectives
  • Committed to customer service across the board
  • Able to manage through change
  • Experience of maintaining and improving a large data set which changes over time
  • Desirable to have experience of working within UK social housing sector
