Principal accountabilities

  • Strategic guidance and advice
  • Provide strategic risk and insurance cover advice and guidance, including liaising with other Group functions Sector teams.
  • Provide education and communication to Sectors/business units/functions on insurance strategy and processes.
  • Have the overall responsibility for the Insurance information on the JM Group Intranet (MyJM)

 

  • Risk engineering
  • Have the overall responsibility for planning and agreeing the multi-year risk engineering survey programme with Property risk engineering providers.
  • Manage of the property risk engineering survey programme ensuring delivery against agreed plan.
  • Attend property risk engineering site surveys as appropriate.
  • Oversight and management of the Risk improvement recommendations progress tracking.
  • Discuss and agree prioritized action plans with Business Units to ensure compliance with recommendations over time.
  • Manage risk engineering reviews of capex projects and ensure all capex projects meet appropriate fire risk management standards from the design to construction and operation.

 

  • Management of external providers
  • Manage external suppliers to the insurance function – negotiation of terms and remuneration.
  • Manage JM’s chosen Risk Management Information system (Webrisk) ensuring the system is up to date and benefits from new developments as appropriate.
  • Manage insurance brokers including agreeing remuneration and reviewing key performance indicators.
  • Responsible for running tenders where appropriate for key service providers such as insurance brokers.
  • Assist the Director of Group Insurance and Insurable Risk in the appointment of external providers.

 

  • Procurement of insurance covers
  • Obtain and maintain a deep understanding of JM’s operating businesses and their current and emerging risks and ensure these are adequately explained and presented to JM’s insurance brokers and insurers as appropriate.
  • Maintain efficient communication with businesses and sectors to ensure the prompt reporting of any changes in insured risks and exposures to insurers in line with JM’s disclosure obligations.
  • Oversee and manage the insurance procurement process for global and local insurance placements, including the insurance renewal information/data collection process, insurance costs allocation, budget guidance, premium recharges, and external payments.
  • Manage and be responsible for the procurement of certain global insurance programmes and policies including negotiation of premium, terms, limits, and coverage, in particular the Property Damage/Business Interruption, Professional Indemnity, Commercial Crime, Business Travel insurance programmes and other policies as required.
  • Manage and be responsible for the procurement of local policies placed for the benefit of specific businesses or countries, outside of the Americas.

 

  • Monitoring and support on insurance claims
  • Overseeing the administration of JM insurance claims by third parties including loss adjusters and appointed claims handling parties
  • Assist business units on complex claims as required

 

  • Corporate Development
  • Support the Corporate Development function on acquisitions and disposals of a business, entity, or site.
  • Collect and present the insurance risk exposure data.
  • Carry out due diligence of insurance risks for targeted acquisition and make recommendations on risk transfer following completion of the transaction.
  • Review and advise on insurance clauses in the transaction agreement.
  • Negotiate with insurers the integration or cancellation of cover as appropriate.

 

  • Contracts
  • Review and advise on insurance clauses in commercial contracts (sales and procurement).
  • Advise and collaborate with legal, procurement and commercial teams on risk transfer via contracts to optimize JM’s position.

 

Are you the ideal candidate?  

You will have:

  • IT literate on MS Office including advanced skills in MS Excel
  • Demonstrable previous experience in a support function (preferably finance function)
  • CII, IRM or ARM qualification or equivalent
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent
