The ‘Future of Business Travel’ Academy session aims to address some of the most important topics for risk and insurance managers as businesses start to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. There is no doubt that business travel will change. The question is how and what do these changes mean for business travellers and risk managers?

In this session, we aim to address what we see as a changing risk landscape and business travel experience. As well as exploring what the traveller experience is likely to look like - longer pre-departure times, implications for onward travel, protocols with hotels and public transport and quarantine requirements - we’ll also answer questions on what risk managers need to consider in terms of their risk management and business travel insurance programmes. These insights will help direct and shape internal protocols, while acknowledging that the risk of a second wave in the future still exists.

The mental and physical health implications for business travellers are also crucial components of the travel planning process. Employees may have reservations about travelling again and these concerns should be factored in when assessing the value and importance of travel. For many travellers, the idea of being unable to return home due to a re-emergence of COVID-19 will likely be a major concern. How should businesses address this and adapt internal protocols? Through our expert assistance providers and partners, Care first and Charles Taylor Assistance, we aim to explore this in more depth and provide actionable insights for risk managers to help keep employees safe and maintain a robust risk and travel management programme.
