VIRTUAL: Academy Workshop - Kidnap & Ransom, Hijack, Hostage & Malicious Threat

27th June 2023 11:00 – 12:00

Register here for this live-streamed session.

Duty of care to people and often by extension to the reputation of an organisation is, of course, a high priority for those that manage risk. Kidnap, Extortion, Malicious Detention and Hostile Threats insurance is a powerful tool available to insurance buyers to provide financial resilience and confidence in response to a myriad of complex and often malicious incidents. These scenarios are often acutely impactful on an organisation, and those based in developed world economies are not immune.

The session will focus on the history and development of the product to date; what it covers as standard nowadays; how the policy coverage is delivered; and the direction of travel for the future evolution of cover. Specifically, attendees will learn about its relevance to a wider audience than is often appreciated and what power it places in the hands of the policyholder at the moment of need. This will also include an overview of some examples of industry verticals and territories where the cover has been supported strongly, based on real-life case studies. The session will also cover how a policy is rated from an underwriting perspective.

Learning Objectives:
Identify clearly what the cover responds to and how.
Be able to cite why it is an increasingly mainstream consideration for risk buyers.
Explain the history of the product and the direction of travel for the future evolution of the cover.
Appreciate the risk factors that influence the underwriting process.
Be equipped with a basic understanding of some case study examples.
