In this session, Ollie Dent and Tom Pelham (Partners in Kennedys Cyber team) simulate the response to a ransomware attack. Using their unique experience in dealing with dozens of high profile attacks (many of which have had media attention over the past 12 months), they will explore the immediate steps that need to be taken, look at the practicalities of managing an incident, and take a look at the likely costs and exposures.

Ollie

Ollie is a Partner and qualified with Kennedys in 2012. Ollie’s focus is on advising both insurers and corporate entities on data breach response, privacy issues, and data subject litigation. He has been instrumental in the development of Kennedys UK and global cyber offering and regularly spends time in other offices.

Ollie often acts on high-profile global data breaches which require notifications across numerous jurisdictions. He also regularly advises household name brands on data privacy and security risks and advises them on developing privacy policies, which comply with GDPR, and incident response plans. Here regularly speaks at industry events both in the UK and overseas, and is a co-host of Kennedys' Cyber Sounds podcast.

Tom is a Partner and has extensive experience in advising on the management and containment of data breaches and the regulatory issues flowing from them.  He has acted on some of the world’s most high-profile breaches as well as a huge variety of domestic cyber incidents involving ransomware, data exfiltration and system compromises.  He has been instrumental in developing the firm’s global cyber team and is regularly instructed to advise on the EU implications of breaches in the US, Canada and APAC.
