Airmic Live - Physical Climate Risk Management and Resilience

23rd September 2026 10:00 – 11:00

Given the recent heat events experienced across the UK and Europe, this webinar explores how extreme heat is emerging as an enterprise risk for Airmic members.

After a brief introduction of extreme heat in the meteorological context of climate change in the UK and Europe, the session will focus on the practical implications for risk managers, including operational disruption, business interruption, workforce wellbeing, supply chain resilience, critical infrastructure vulnerabilities and evolving insurance considerations, including real-world examples of both loss events and resilience measures.

The session should provide attendees with actionable guidance on assessing heat-related exposures, strengthening organisational resilience, and engaging with insurers on climate adaptation and future risk financing strategies.

By the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Put this summer’s heatwave into perspective against the ongoing climate change the UK and Europe are facing.
  • Understand the different transmission channels through which extreme heat affects various sectors and occupancies.
  • Conceptualise different ways for loss mitigation of heat-related hazards, such as operational/business interruption and workforce wellbeing.
