The role

We are currently looking to recruit a Risk & Compliance Manager to assist a small central team at group level, based primarily in Hook, Hampshire. The team develops and oversees policy, implementation and reporting of Risk, Compliance and Assurance with the ultimate objective of driving an effective set of policies, standards and procedures to manage down risks in the business, manage up compliance, and report effectively into the Executive and Risk Committees. 

Reporting to the Group Director for Risk & Compliance, this role will play a key role in assisting in the enhancement of Serco’s risk, compliance and assurance culture across the business as well as measuring and reporting on its effectiveness, thereby reducing risk in the global enterprise. Close links will be established with other group functions, Legal and other regulatory teams to ensure an integrated and efficient approach to the management of risks and compliance to deliver combined assurance.

 

You will be expected to:

  • Assist the approach to risk management and compliance, by supporting the Group Risk and Compliance team in achieving appropriate consensus across risk and compliance professionals in the business and the business leadership. 
  • Assist in risk and compliance reporting methodology and in preparation of reports for the COO, Executive Committee and, where required, to plc Board.
  • Assist in the continuous development of the risk and compliance policies and systems so as to improve effectiveness, reporting accuracy and timeliness - including risk and compliance tools, templates and processes, self-assessment, functional assurance programmes and risk reporting tools.
  • Assist in the maintenance and modification of central collateral and systems that underpin this function including all risk management and compliance processes and templates, Serco Management System (SMS) documentation, SMS self-assessment tools, compliance and assurance templates and methodologies.

 

About you:

  • You will be educated to degree level. 
  • You will hold an appropriate professional qualification in the domain of risk management, compliance, assurance, or similar management discipline such as IRM, ACII, ACCA, CIMA etc
  • You will be highly numerate and able to communicate with colleagues at all levels
  • You will have a good understanding of the corporate needs of organisations of similar size and breadth in the areas of risk and compliance.
  • You will be knowledgeable in the impact of risk and risk Management in a business as well as specific understanding of risk and compliance process theories/practices.
  • You will have sound experience in risk and compliance in a multinational and similarly diverse service organisation and an understanding of risk types and how they impact a business.
