TEAM

The Safety Risk team reports to the Head of Safety and is responsible to the Director of Safety, Security & Compliance for the design, delivery, and maintenance of the safety risk management processes across easyJet and to oversee the continuous improvement of easyJet safety risk management performance. This includes the investigation processes, and the operational readiness processes. The team is comprised of a small number of experienced and knowledgeable individuals with their own areas of speciality who together maintain the easyJet SMS.

JOB PURPOSE

To develop, implement and oversee the safety risk management processes and associated IT and other tools to support a high-performance organisation.

Leading the development of the safety risk management processes, the Senior Risk Management Specialist has the responsibility to ensure the effectiveness of easyJet’s safety risk management processes, including the operational readiness process. The SRMS is also responsible for supporting the continuous improvement of safety risk management within the Operations functional departments through the safety risk specialists and others. This includes risk identification, assessment, mitigation design and performance reporting.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Design, develop, maintain and publish the safety risk management processes to support effective risk management in a high performance organisation
  • Design, develop, maintain and implement processes to monitor the effectiveness of the risk management processes across the organisation
  • Develop and maintain the business specifications for IT tools required to support the effective implementation of the safety risk management processes
  • Define the training and education requirements to support the effective implementation of the safety risk management processes
  • Ensure the provision of safety risk management training is effective and efficient
  • Ensure the safety risk management processes support the effective implementation of the safety plan
  • Design, develop and implement other safety management processes as required and agreed with the Safety Risk Manager to support the effectiveness of the safety management system
  • Ensure that safety risk manuals and documentation are reviewed and updated in line with the IMS framework
  • Support the promotion of safety through contributions to safety publications and campaigns
  • Ensure the continuous improvement of safety risk management and the demonstration thereof
  • Ensure the effective development, review and utilisation of risk register (s)
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of safety management meetings

Requirements of the Role

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED

Essential

  • Excellent airline operational experience
  • Excellent safety risk management expertise
  • Sound knowledge of aviation regulations
  • Proven ability to deliver to deadlines
  • Strong ability to identify, build and manage relationships across a range of internal and external management teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, leadership and influencing
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and ability to interpret the intent of the rules
  • Good programme and project management skills with a solid understanding of the industry context, trends, and Operator drivers.
  • Thorough and accurate, capable of identifying the key issues without getting lost in the detail
  • Confident and articulate, with excellent written and verbal communications at all levels from front-line personnel to the senior management.
  • Proven ability to challenge the status quo and promote organisational change
  • Proficient in the use of desktop software tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Accuracy and attention to detail when working under pressure
  • Ability to communicate clearly in plain English

Desirable

  • Risk management qualification
  • Previous training experience
  • Completion of the Cranfield University investigators or equivalent course
  • Human Factors qualification/experience
  • Lead auditor/auditor qualification and experience

This role is part time (4 days) and is based in Luton with some elements of travel.
