Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a revised risk strategy with the Head of Enterprise Risk.

  • Work with the Head of Enterprise Risk to embed the revised risk methodology across the Group.

  • Support the Executive Committee to manage their principal risks and the business to manage their operational risks.

  • Use the risk management software to collate risk and control information and draft reports including Heat Maps and Action Plans for the Executive Committee, Audit and Risk Committee and Risk Committees.

  • Be a full user of the risk management software to develop new reporting formats and monitor user access.

  • Complete deep dives and audits on specific risks to gain assurance on the quality of the controls and action plans.

  • Provide proactive support for managing the remediation if identified gaps in risk assessment or control.

  • Assist the Head of Enterprise Risk facilitate risk workshops with senior stakeholders across the business.

  • Be recognised as a corporate governance and risk subject matter expert responsible for co-ordinating risk assessments for the business.

  • Build close working relationships with Risk Champions in the business to develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships to promote, embed and develop risk management.

  • Support the Risk Champions to maintain their Risk Registers, Heat Maps and Action Plans in each part of the business.

  • Develop scenarios to test management’s understanding of risks to raise awareness of threats and vulnerabilities and the need for effective action.

  • Provide risk management training and coaching to Risk Champions and other staff within the business.

  • Work closely with Internal Audit and other assurance functions to provide risk information and gain assurance on the quality of risk management controls.

  • Act as a critical friend to the business by reviewing and challenging their risk assessments and risk treatments

  • Attend Risk Committees in the business to build risk management knowledge and awareness within the business

Person Profile

  • Recognised Risk, Finance or Audit qualification; Educated to degree level

  • Significant risk management experience and experience in a Risk environment

  • Exposure to corporate level risks

  • Strong influencing and persuasion skills / high degree of perseverance and resilience

  • Collaborative working with the business

  • Strong planning, written skills and organisational management

  • Ability to communicate clearly with key stakeholders

  • Finance experience would be an advantage
