The Role:

Reporting to the Head of Group Insurance, this role is to assist in the procurement and management of M&G’s corporate insurance programme and related risk control activities.

It is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual with experience of corporate insurance, with strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Working as a key member of a small team of insurance experts the remit of the role is wide, providing opportunities to work with all areas of the M&G business. The focus of the role is to support M&G’s corporate insurance arrangements, although there will be opportunity to support the management of insurances arranged for the M&G Real Estate managed property portfolio.

Key Responsibilities for this role:

  • To understand business operational needs and assess insurance requirements of the group to protect M&G assets and liabilities.
  • Support the development and implementation of an optimum risk transfer programme.
  • Communicate to brokers and other insurance consultants all relevant aspects of the business, information and standards required in order to ensure competitive pricing and coverage for all insurance policies placed.
  • Manage the placement of insurance programmes globally.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance. Assist other departments as required. 
  • Produce internal guidelines and controls to ensure the functioning of the insurance department in a risk controlled framework.
  • Produce internal procedures and summary documents and necessary internal consultation within the group to ensure various operating divisions are aware of insurance coverage in place.
  • Actively manage the interface with brokers and other service providers ensuring quality and delivery of service.
  • Review, in conjunction with Legal, contractual arrangements with third parties / suppliers to ensure insurance coverage provided is adequate.  
  • Be responsible for the claims process globally and drive improvements to the process.
  • Actively manage large complex notifications and claims.  

 

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge of operational risks and insurance for the sector. Including the ability to identify, analyse and assess key risk exposures and identify potential insurance mitigants.
  • Detailed understanding of the main classes of corporate insurances for the sector, including underwriting criteria, insurance policy structures, definitions, policy wordings and exclusions
  • Knowledge of global insurance markets.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence effectively with productive, successful relationships with stakeholders  
  • Relevant experience within an in-house insurance team, insurance broker, insurer or similar.
  • Minimum qualification – ACII (or equivalent insurance / risk qualification), or progress towards.
  • Proven negotiation, influencing interpersonal skills with senior management. 
  • Ability to discuss and negotiate with insurers and insurance brokers on technical insurance points.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work on own initiative and handle pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
