Key Accountabilities:

Claims Strategy

  • Provide strategic management of the claims handling process including, where necessary, a review and implementation of process improvements
  • Strategic management and oversight of claims handling service providers including Employers’ Liability and Motor claims, as well including general performance reviews, arranging audits and regular review meetings
  • Take a lead role on service provider tenders, working with colleagues from Procurement and Legal
  • Engagement with all levels of the business to ensure that appropriate information is provided, and where necessary lessons learned are communicated within the business

Claims Handling

  • Handling of public liability claims of varying value and type including obtaining claims investigation information from operational colleagues to assist in the defence of civil claims
  • Act as lead for the insurance team in respect of large and complex insurance claims, ensuring appropriate use and management of external expertise (e.g. loss adjusters and claims litigation solicitors)
  • Effective and timely management of the team email box and the Claims Portal to respond to claims and other communications

Insurance

  • Reviewing and vetting of insurance and liability clauses in contracts, ensuring each contract reflects the company’s risk appetite, balancing this against the commercial opportunity of the contract
  • Collect and review underwriting data and ensure it is relevant and accurate for the Operational, Owner Controlled Insurance Programme (OCIP) and pensions-related employee benefits programmes in line with best practice, particularly with regards to the requirements of the Insurance Act 2015
  • Manage the annual renewal of the insured pensions-related employee benefits programme, working with the Insurance Manager to review strategy
  • Be a point of contact for general insurance queries and mid-term adjustments, where relevant
  • Assist the Insurance Manager in scoping the insurance strategy for the company
  • Act as deputy to the Insurance Manager where necessary

What You’ll Bring

  • CertCII or above is desirable but not necessary
  • Relevant technical qualifications in insurance and/or claims handling or the ability to demonstrate relevant experience
  • Strategic management skills particularly pertaining to claims strategy, management and insurance
  • The ability to identify and implement process improvements
  • Practical demonstrable experience either in-house, insurer or broker background
  • Demonstrable knowledge of relevant the claims handling protocols and ability to manage complex claims in Public Liability, Employers Liability and Motor
  • Knowledge of other types of claims is desirable
  • Knowledge of complex insurance programmes and the London insurance market
  • A sound knowledge of all of the usual lines of coverage purchased by a company the size and nature of Cadent
  • An ability to critically review diverse sources of information and data, draw conclusions and produce compelling insurance and claims analysis, reports, presentations and strategies
  • Experience of managing a claims handling software system, including admin, data management and reporting (Evoclaim ideal but not essential)
  • Knowledge of SAP system, the ability to search for records
  • Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team
  • Ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders and manage expectations (across the business with managers and employees at different levels)
  • Strong relationship and communication skills. Able to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including communicating at senior levels within the organisation and a wide variety of external stakeholders
  • Ability to define and establish a clear governance structure for civil claims
  • Able to identify and establish a clear strategy on complex matters and ensure this is shared with all stakeholders and adhered to
  • Ability to manage a mixed in-house and TPA claims provision.
