Overall purpose of the role

To assist the Group Senior Insurance & Claims Manager and the Senior Internal Audit Manager in the analysis and management of claims activity and trends and to move Kier to proactive claims management enabling functional stakeholders to manage risk to eliminate or reduce claims.  To provide support in the management of the Group insurance programme.  To identify, design and develop data analytics routines to support audit activities performed by the internal audit team

 

Key Tasks & Accountabilities

  • Prepare periodic reviews of claims performance for Business Streams to assist in financial planning and accident reduction strategies
  • Identify claims trends and patterns to drive focused risk management intervention
  • Identify and drive data capture improvements with supplier’s IT systems to ensure MI (management information) matches the business needs
  • Monitor performance of Kier’s uninsured loss recovery process
  • Assist in developing the annual KPI’s used to assess claims performance throughout each year.
  • Oversee the central fund held by the TPA’s for claims payments, ensuring that the fund is managed efficiently, and we have visibility of cash claims spend to support financial planning
  • Oversee the VAT recovery processes administered by TPA’s and manage this aspect of key supplier relationships
  • Engage with the SHEA team to ensure that the accident data being captured is being used appropriately, including in accident analysis, and to identify opportunities to develop the system further to improve business oversight
  • Understand the Captive claims activity and its impact on Kier’s balance sheet
  • Train and support the team who input claims across Kier
  • Provide support to the department in administration of the insurance programme, including assisting with the gathering renewal information, timely payment of premiums and issuance of proof of insurance certificates
  • Provide insurance advice as required to business functions
  • Support on the creation of premium allocation templates annually using a combination of exposure values and claims loadings
  • Maintain database of insurance policies, expiry dates, insurers and premiums, providing the team the overall MI for efficient decision making
  • Provide other support to the department as required, examples include insurance renewal, and insurance inspections.
  • Create repeatable data analytics to support continuous audit monitoring programs 
  • Identify, design, and develop data analytics extract routines to support audit activities performed by the Internal Audit team
  • Manage data extraction, storage, transformation, and processing through data analytics routines, and generate output for analysis by the Internal Audit team
  • Use data analysis tools to automate audit testing and analysing large volumes of data
  • Interact with management and business partners to identify appropriate data sources and data elements required for analytics, applying professional judgement when assessing data sources and validating the completeness and accuracy of data received

Skills & Experience

  • Advantageous – construction/services industry experience
  • Able to explain the technical aspects of insurance analytics and claims to non-specialists
  • Knowledge of project management and project control processes.
  • Relevant professional qualification  
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, data-intuition, and problem-solving skills, and proficiency in data analytics techniques.
  • Proficiency in extraction and analysis of data from financial systems
  • Experience building and supporting continuous audit monitoring programs.
  • Superior Stakeholder & Relationship Management
  • Full Driving licence
