Job Introduction

Procurement is responsible for managing an external spend of £1.6bn, using around 12,000 suppliers annually. Our strategy is to optimise supplier engagement to deliver value for money, simplify processes, raise service levels, manage commercial risks and develop successful internal and external relationships while ensuring our procurement activities are carried out in a sustainable way.
The base for this role is London W12.

Role Responsibility

Within this role you will be responsible for the provision of guidance and advice to teams and Productions across the BBC Group, in the UK and abroad, on a broad range of procedural and insurance risk related matters covering insurance coverage advice, issuing of cover certification and advice on claims to be made under the BBC’s global insurance arrangements.

You will also be responsible for the day to day management and administration of the Driver Declaration system and applying BBC policy to any declared drivers and liaising with their line manager, as appropriate, including where the driver does not meet the BBC driver criteria.

This role will also involve working with and updating and maintaining various databases including the  external Motor Insurer’s Database to ensure that all BBC insured vehicles are accurately uploaded to the UK government database, ensuring compliance with the Law..  The collation and distribution of management reports to external motor claims handling suppliers to enable coverage validation of motor claims will also be part of your remit.

You will be responsible for the day to day management of the Safe Driving Programme, including the identification of drivers requiring to undertake further training and assessment and communicating with individuals to ensure that training requirements are completed in a timely fashion, and where necessary liaising with line managers to achieve 100% compliance.

You will also play a crucial role in keeping our panel of insurance brokers and insurers updated in respect of the wide range of risks across all areas of the BBC.  This will involve making enquiries, conducting research,  and assisting with preparation and collation of underwriting information ensuring the data is accurate, up to date and available in good time for renewal purposes.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a candidate with excellent organisational skills and the ability to work without close supervision. You will have experience of working in a busy working environment, with the ability to juggle your workload to meet challenging deadlines.    You will also have previous experience of dealing with sensitive issues including the handling of confidential data on a day to day basis.

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) or/and experience of supporting general administration and financial activities as part of a support function.
  • Experience of providing analytical and data retrieval activities.
  • Computer literate with experience of using databases and Microsoft packages such as Excel and Word.
  • General understanding of procurement processes.  
  • Able to establish confident and effective working relationships with colleagues, managers, staff from all areas of the business and external suppliers and contacts

Desirable

  • A pro-active and creative approach to problem solving.
  • Experience of working in a corporate insurance environment.
  • Working within the broadcast & media sector
  • Project management skills
