The Insurance Analyst – EMEA directly reports to the Director, Insurance – EMEA who has a dual reporting line to the Senior Director, Insurance – International and the Vice President, Business Finance & Administration – Europe.  The position does not supervise anyone.

SPECIFIC DUTIES / EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Maintain international insurance pipeline, schedules, and hotel billing to ensure continuity of coverage.
  • Manage and maintain the data collection process for the European portfolio including analysis / reconciliation of renewal exposure information and premiums to determine change in exposure that may impact pricing ensuring data accuracy in risk management systems and broker data.
  • Assist with premium allocations to include invoice reconciliation and management of annual maintenance schedules
  • Manage day-to-day broker and insurer workflow and network including timely and proper issuance of policies, invoicing, and hotel/office briefs
  • Work with multi-national insurance advisors to determine in-country insurance conditions and review local policies
  • Management of department risk management information system / database (RMIS) to include tracking of insurance compliance and continuous system improvements
  • Carry out quality checks on RMIS data to ensure information is up to date and accurate processes are correctly followed.
  • Interpret insurance clauses under Franchise and Management agreements and demonstrate ability to explain coverage and/or potential exposures to internal and external stakeholders or business partners
  • Monitor insurance provided by managed owners and franchisees to ensure contractual compliance and notification of deficiencies as appropriate
  • Co-ordinate with Development Asset Management to ensure insurance requirements under the Critical Path for pre-opening/new hotels are met and track the status for upcoming openings.
  • Organize and develop insurance presentations and/or summaries for internal and external purposes
  • Co-ordinate Risk Management training seminars, academies and workshops to include marketing and operational responsibilities amongst others 
  • Point of contact and coordinator for vendor contractual review and negotiation of insurance and indemnity provisions of hotel level and above property agreements
  • Coordination of the Business Case Analysis (BCA) process and support the risk analysis of vendors’/concessionaires’ exposures including higher risk / hazard activities business case analysis (BCA) process 
  • Support multi-channel hotel / office communications pertaining to insurance renewals, data capture, invoicing, and claim reporting processes to hotels and offices
  • Review and reconcile invoicing and premium allocation with hotel level and above property accounting teams
  • Support the Franchisee insurance offering (HOOP) for improved contract compliance and management of marketing material, internal and external communications, broker/insurer relations etc. Identify continental coverage gaps or overlaps of insurance across disciplines
  • Assist in the marketing and integration of Marriott’s Liability insurance program to legacy SPG and Protea hotels
  • Marketing of insurance programs to non-participating hotels
  • Competitor and Industry Benchmarking Analysis
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned by the Director, Insurance - EMEA

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE – KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • University degree ideally in corporate risk management or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive job experience in insurance underwriting; brokerage, claims or risk management
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint a must)
  • Thorough analytical skills and demonstrated ability to identify trends                                   
  • Strong prior experience with the development or day-to-day management of a RMIS
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to develop or encourage alternative or new innovative solutions when appropriate
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills with an ability to influence and communicate effectively with insurance and non-insurance professionals
  • Experience with multinational operations
  • Ability to build consensus amongst various stakeholders with competing priorities
  • Positive attitude and a high level of enthusiasm and energy
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise multiple projects while meeting required goals and deadlines
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with both internal and external customers / stakeholders
  • Prior CII or IRM coursework encouraged
