About the role

Our Group Risk and Insurance team provide risk mitigation, risk transfer and insurance services to support National Grid's strategic priorities. We are here to provide our stakeholders with insightful and effective advice enabling them to make informed decisions relating to insurance and associated risk mitigation and transfer. Together, we design and deliver major insurance programmes for our operational risks and strategic capital projects. From connections to new offshore windfarms to the procurement of services, we identify insurable risks and drive cost effective insurance solutions that delivers real value and protection. As an in-house Insurance expert, this is an opportunity to actively support the development and delivery of the most appropriate insurance strategies for National Grid. You will

advise business leaders and management in relation to coverage across all lines of insurance, including property damage, business interruption and all casualty classes, by staying at the cutting edge of insurance market influences. Devising and implementing strategies and engaging with insurance professionals, brokers and other experts will be very much at the heart of the role.

About you

What we do isn't just important - it's essential. That's why we look to recruit and train current, or potential, experts in their field. In this case, we're looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience within insurance and risk management gained from either underwriting, broking or in-house positions with large commercial organisations.
  • Is experienced in reviewing and negotiating insurance terms and conditions, including conducting policy wording reviews and placing in the London and International insurance markets.
  • Has experience of presenting to insurance and non-insurance audiences and collating underwriting packs and data for consideration by insurance markets.
  • Has a clear understanding of the insurance market with extensive knowledge of the core insurances classes purchased by large commercial organisations.
  •  An ability to manage diverse sources of information and data, draw conclusions and produce insurance analysis, reports including internal and external presentations e.g. insurance underwriters and internal committees or executives.
  • You will have a Diploma in Insurance or equivalent professional experience.
