A bit about the role

In this exciting forward-thinking strategic role, reporting to the Director of Strategy & Implementation, you will elevate the prominence, understanding and organisational capability for Action for Children in relation to risk management, assurance of our internal control environment and compliance with the laws and regulations to which we are subject to adhere.

You will also enhance specialist leadership and support teams in streamlining and updating a set of core policies and procedures, aligned to Action for Children's core risks.

 

How you'll help to create brighter futures

  • Provide organisational leadership and expertise on risk management, assurance and compliance.
  • Support the Board of Trustees, Audit and Risk Committee, Executive Leadership Team, Directors Group, and Senior Managers to manage the organisation's principal risks.
  • Lead the development and operationalisation of our risk management framework.
  • Coordinate and support business continuity planning and training activities across the charity.
  • Oversee our outsourced internal audit function.
  • Identify and lead activities to strengthen organisational compliance and compliance culture.
  • Ensure the appropriate escalation, recording, reporting and remediation of compliance and risk management issues.
  • Manage the Insurance and Business Continuity Function

 

Let's talk about you

  • IRM International Certificate of Risk Management qualified (IRMCert) or equivalent professional risk management qualification
  • Experience of organisational risk management, compliance systems and assurance of control environment in an organisation of similar size and complexity.
  • Experience of coordinating and implementing internal audit activities and business continuity plans in an organisation of similar size and complexity.
  • Experience of influencing and relationship management up to and including Board level.
  • Management experience desirable.
