About us

DS Smith is a leading provider of sustainable fibre-based packaging worldwide, which is supported by recycling and papermaking operations. We play a central role in the value chain across sectors including e-commerce, fast moving consumer goods and industrials. Through our purpose of ‘Redefining Packaging for a Changing World’ and our Now and Next sustainability strategy, we are committed to leading the transition to the circular economy, while delivering more circular solutions for our customers and wider society – replacing problem plastics, taking carbon out of supply chains and providing innovative recycling solutions. Our bespoke box-to-box in 14 days model, design capabilities and innovation strategy sits at the heart of this response.

Headquartered in London and a member of the FTSE 100, DS Smith operates in 34 countries employing around 30,000 people and we are a Strategic Partner of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. Our history can be traced back to the box-making businesses started in the 1940s by the Smith family.

About the role

We have a new opportunity for a Property Risk and Loss Prevention Manager to join us and work with our Group Risk team at DS Smith.  In this role, you’ll be responsible for building strong relationships with stakeholders at sites in all of the countries that we operate in, and developing implementable strategies that will prevent as many accidents as possible and make our sites more risk-averse.

While there are some simple measures that can be put in place, we also have much more complex work to do with some of our sites including our paper mills in the UK and Europe.  These projects will require your best relationship building and collaborative skills as you’ll be working extensively with Engineers, HSE Managers and Finance teams.

We also have brand new opportunities for you to work on, looking at our expansion projects with Group Property to ensure that new sites are properly protected from any identifiable risks, and working with Group IT to help build actionable strategies that will prevent attacks on industrial control systems.

We want you to create and embed an awareness of the benefits of a highly protected property and business continuity risk culture throughout the Group, so it’s vital that your passion for this line of work shines through when engaging with DS Smith stakeholders.  If you think this is the role for you, please get in touch!

Note: This role involves a large amount of travel, mostly in the UK and Europe.
