TEAM
The Flight Planning function forms part of the Navigation Delivery Team within the Air Traffic Management structure within easyJet. Based in the Integrated Control Centre (ICC), the team has the primary responsibility for managing all aspects of the flight planning process, ensuring safety and compliance, whilst providing the customer with the highest possible quality of service, be it passengers or crew.
JOB PURPOSE
> To provide our Flight Deck with safe and efficient Operational Flight Plans that adhere to defined company procedures and policies.
> To improve on time performance by ensuring flight plans avoid slot restrictions and adverse weather (where possible) and to identify solutions when external influences affect air traffic management in order to mitigate the impact to our operation.
> To maximise Operational Flight Plan efficiency at every opportunity in order to deliver associated cost savings to the business.
> To maintain situational awareness of the airspace that easyJet operates in, ensuring Operational Flight Plans are amended accordingly when required to account for operational conditions.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
> Operationally reporting to the on shift Senior Flight planner (SFP) and functionally reporting to the Head of Navigation Delivery (HND), the Flight Planning Officer (FPO) will ensure that our passengers are flown on a network that is deemed to be safe, efficient, consistent and to the highest possible service standard in relation to the company business model.
> Responsible for a safe operation when managing LIDO in the production of Operational Flight Plans
> To analyse, correct and report flight plan errors in terms of aborted calculations/IFPS rejected flight plans, working closely with the Navigation Team within Navigation Delivery to reduce the overall error rate.
> Ensures compliance with company policy/procedures in accordance with the easyJet Operations Manuals and company systems
> To be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the Flight Planning function.
> Actively monitor ATFM regulations both pre-tactically and tactically and take action to minimise impact on the EZY operation, when required.
> Actively monitor en route weather both pre-tactically and tactically and take action to minimise impact on the EZY operation, when required.
> Proactively working to reduce delays during both normal and disrupted operations.
> Proactively working to maximise all Flight Plan efficiencies.
> Action Operational Flight Plan (OFP) amendments in response to Flight Crew requests.
> Conduct on shift mentor training for new FPOs
> Deputises in the SFP position and will be accountable for operational decisions when acting in this role.
> Will take ownership of and deliver functional projects when requested
> Works closely with the Navigation Team with regards to reporting/correcting Flight Plan errors in a timely manner
> Continuously strives to satisfying departmental KPIs and captures performance data effectively.
> Responsible for a strong safety culture by providing accurate reporting of incidents through the defined reporting structure.
KEY SKILLS REQUIRED
> FAA Dispatch License or equivalent (preferable but not essential)
> High levels of Numeracy and literacy skills.
> Airline Meteorology and geographical awareness
> Strong communications skills
> Relevant experience within an airline operations centre
> Ability to work effectively under pressure and with changing timescales
> High level of PC literacy with experience on company systems an advantage (knowledge of LIDO Flight preferable but not essential)
> High degree of flexibility (12 hr shift pattern).
> Good working knowledge of the European Air Traffic Network
> Good financial and commercial awareness with an understanding of the safety and operational drivers within a dynamic, cost focussed business
> Good working knowledge of the easyJet OM/A (internal candidates only)
LOCATION & HOURS OF WORK
This full-time role will be based in Luton, and will be an average of fourteen shifts per 28 days, the shifts will be 12 hours shifts, typically from 0630am-1830pm (Day shift) , or 1830pm-0630am (Nightshift).
