At Network Rail, our Finance function is key to our success. Our diverse and high-achieving team is responsible for ensuring we secure appropriate funding and get the best possible value for the money we spend, driving forward our continuing mission to transform the UK’s rail network into a world-class infrastructure.

What does the average day look like?

In this role you will deliver specialist advice on how best identify, prioritise and manage risks for designated accounts, using Network Rail’s ERM framework, to help them to develop their risk registers and make risk-based decisions. You will provide expert advice and training on the ERM framework, tools and processes via informal meetings as well as formal training sessions to improve risk management capability. This includes monitoring adherence to the ERM framework and its processes so accounts achieve compliance, providing feedback on areas for improvement and working with accounts on action plans. You will also evaluate risk data for your accounts, challenging account stakeholders to appropriately document risks using the ERM process to facilitate consistent reporting at enterprise level for executive leadership and the Board. As well as facilitating risk workshops to develop new risks, upskilling attendees on how best to undertake their own workshops to help embed a risk culture and improve capability across the organisation.

You will support the ongoing improvements to the ERM framework and risk management activities through leading on improvement projects, working with stakeholders within the team, and across the organisation. You will also attend risk governance meetings, providing challenge in risk discussions and insights from internal and external sources, as well as answering question on best practice risk approaches.
