We are currently seeking a Risk Manager, EMEA who will be responsible for the leadership and management of the risk management function in Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

Reporting to the global Director of Risk Management, this position partners with the regional business units and corporate functions to provide effective risk management which aligns with Cushman & Wakefield’s global risk management strategy. This role is responsible for identifying, managing, and minimizing risks to the company through active involvement in contract negotiations, claims management, corporate insurance program placement, loss control, and the company’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage internal relationships with the business units, corporate functions, and senior executives to facilitate the identification, evaluation and understanding of risks across the company
  • Provide subject matter expertise, ongoing consultation, and training to all levels of the organization regarding internal and external risk management and insurance issues
  • Work with key internal and external stakeholders on insurance strategy and developing insurance processes to ensure optimal insurance program structure for the business and operations
  • Manage the placement and administration of all local EMEA insurance policies in-country and region
  • Provide support with client and vendor contract negotiations, including identification of scope or other risk issues within regional or globally and negotiation of insurance provisions
  • Manage the reporting and resolution of insurance claims within authority on local country, regional, and/or global insurance policies, as applicable
  • Identify loss drivers and claims trends unique to each business unit; partner with the business teams and other corporate functions to create and implement loss control initiatives to reduce claims frequency and severity and reduce the company’s Total Cost of Risk
  • Provide regional support to the company’s ERM program
  • Assist Director of Risk Management with regional Mergers & Acquisitions due diligence and integration of the acquired company into Cushman & Wakefield’s insurance and risk management programs
  • Partner with the cross-functional teams on vendor management and vendor compliance
  • Prepare and present risk reports to management as required or requested
  • Ensure claims and other risk data is accurately maintained in the company’s Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) and other internal and external systems, as needed
  • Partner with other regional risk managers on global and/or cross-regional contracts and projects
  • Assist with other regional risk and insurance projects as requested or needed

  • Lead teams of internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization including those senior to you
  • Ability to work independently with flexibility and little oversight and focus in a dynamic environment
  • Analytic and strategic thinker capable of translating senior-level direction and corporate risk management policies and procedures to structured, practical, efficient and effective business processes
  • Proven leadership skills with demonstrated sound business judgement; develops talent for the future
  • Strong analytical, financial, and project management skills, with the ability to adapt to project developments, communicate clearly, demonstrate leadership, drive results, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in risk management, business or other related field
  • Risk management and/or insurance designation (ARM, CPCU, or similar) is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Computer proficiency to utilize online Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS)

Key Experience

  • Extensive of experience in corporate risk management and/or corporate insurance roles with progressive responsibility, preferably within the commercial real estate sector
  • Strong background in property and casualty and professional indemnity insurance coverages
  • Experience managing complex regional and global insurance programs with large self-insured retentions
  • Experience identifying current and emerging trends in risk management in internal and external environments
