JOB PURPOSE

The Crew Optimisation Officer works within the Crew Optimisation Team with responsibility for conducting testing and delivering changes, enhancements or required regulator development in the Optimisation tools and associated data processes.

The position will also support the day-to-day crew pairing and roster Optimisation functions within the team using knowledge of the live environment to support the system and process developments. The role within the team also includes maintaining the procedures and team training material to a high standard, to ensure all team members have up to date processes in-line with new system or optimisation processes. 

 

New system and process developments – the Crew Optimisation Officer will:

Work with the guidance of the Senior Data Extract officer to scope new functionality in the Optimisation tools leading to the production of Change Requests for submission to the IT department for discussion with the system suppliers.

Maintain a log of all ID bugs within the Crew Optimisation tools for use by the Crew Optimisation Manager at regular supplier performance meetings.

Undertake system testing of updates to the Optimisation or data tools after bug fix or ahead of release of new functionality within the optimisation tools.

Perform regression testing of systems including AIMS as and when required.

Maintain project documents and testing outcomes on behalf of Crew Planning on optimisation system changes.

Co-ordinate with the Operations Planning team and other stake holders on proposed changes to optimisation functionality in tools where there is a shared access.

Co-ordinate with the Establishment Officers to ensure bespoke rosters are deliverable and when approved are included in crew’s roster set-up within the Roster Optimiser ahead of data extract and roster construction.
 

Manage and Co-ordinate the Crew Optimisation manual 

Ensure the team process manuals are up-to-date with current processes and procedures and audited on a regular basis with findings presented on a regular basis to the Senior Crew Optimisation Officer.

 
Other

Undertake monthly roster optimisation production of pairings and crew rosters as required.

Based on detailed analysis, create optimum crew pairing and roster optimiser solutions, considering the commercial schedule, crew availability and roster pre-assignments

Conduct regular review of pairings using Excel to analyse pairings performance. Make recommendations based on this analysis to re-plan, split or distribute pairings

Produce ad hoc reporting as required using a variety of tools and software. Gather data and provide recommendations accordingly

Liaise with the external supplier of the Pairings and Roster Optimiser to ensure data inputs and outputs are received timely and in the required format. Provide feedback to improve and enhance future crew pairings and rosters

Maintain a working knowledge of easyJet Flight Time Limitations, Union CLAs and industrial agreements.

Maintain a level of understanding within the Crew Optimisation team to enable support of the Monthly production as and when required.

Support the Crew Planning department in relation to the roster production and other crew supply chain needs when additional capacity is required.

 

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED

Educated to degree level in aviation related subject or business equivalent.

Proven capability in MS Office applications, particularly Excel with a keen eye for detail

Excellent eye for detail and willing to challenge where compromise would degrade the objective.

Outstanding communication skills and ability to present complex information clearly and concisely

Team worker who is also capable of operating on their own initiative A flexible attitude and ability to respond to changing demands and timescales in supply chain workload, and in their own time management.

18 months operational experience of working within a crew scheduling/Optimisation or crew establishment department supported by a good working knowledge of EASA FTL regulations and crew collective agreements [CLA]. Preference for experience of working within an EU planning environment

Crew Optimisation, systems testing, or Business Analyst qualification are desirable

 

LOCATION & HOURS OF WORK
