The Business Assurance Manager (BAM) will support the already established Senior Business Assurance Manager in taking our risk management and business continuity planning to the next level. What does that mean? Well, this is a formative and high impact role for ASOS that touches on every area of the business. The Business Assurance Manager will support the risk and business continuity management strategy and champion the risk management approach and process across ASOS, in particular with senior management by ensuring there is a rigorous assessment of risk.
The key to success in this role will be “attitude” and approach to be able to build on the strong internal foundations already established by Business Assurance. Particularly key will be the ability to influence and shape behaviours in a place that works in its own way, combined with the ability to engage with our ASOSers on what really matters to make ASOS more assured and sustainable without turning them away – no pressure, like.

What you'll be doing...
Risk Management
- Support the Senior Business Assurance Manager in implementing and embedding effective risk management and business continuity planning across ASOS
- Work in collaboration with the Senior Business Assurance Manager to provide input into the risk strategy and processes to help strengthen our risk management framework
- Under the guidance of the Senior Business Assurance Manager, take responsibility for carrying out assigned steps in the biannual risk review process, including meetings with members of senior management, and help prepare the output from the review with the Senior Business Assurance Manager in line with the audit committee timelines
- Facilitate risk identification workshops and collate the output
- Promote the risk identification and escalation process in all interactions with ASOSers across the business
- Work continuously with the ASOS Leadership Team in ensuring effective risk mitigation strategies are in place
- Support ASOS’s growth plans as required by developing strong relationships with key stakeholders
- Carry out ad hoc compliance activities, including insurance queries, compiling the periodic gifts and hospitality reporting as assigned by the Senior Business Assurance Manager
Business Continuity Planning
- Support the Senior Business Assurance Manager in implementing and embedding the Business Continuity Strategy, which includes reviewing our business continuity plans and incident management framework
- Take ownership of our mass internal emergency communication tool, xMatters, ensuring it remains up to date and stays “alive” in ASOS through effective training and communication
- Review and complete a business wide Business Impact Analysis (BIA) in order to determined recovery strategies and priorities
- Take ownership in refreshing the approach to workplace recovery of ASOS Studios, HQ and Customer Care
- Support the Senior Business Assurance Manager in putting together exercises participate in those exercises, leading post incident reviews and facilitating any appropriate action for any lessons learned
Team Matters
- Annual Business Assurance Operating Plan
- Input suggestions and ideas to Senior Business Assurance Manager in the preparation and finalisation of the Business Assurance Operating Plan
- Check and update the Operating Plan regularly
- Plot progress on Operating Plan regularly and send through to Senior Business Assurance Manager for review
- Report any likely changes to timetable or circumstances to Senior Business Assurance Manager ASAP
- Budgets
- Day-to-day responsibility for the prompt and accurate raising, receipting, updating and cancelling (as required) of Purchase Requisitions (PRs) for all Business Assurance spend
- Raising any changes to previously expected spend promptly with the Senior Business Assurance Manager

We'd like to meet...
- Sound experience in Enterprise Risk Management application and/or Business Continuity Planning essential. Experience in both disciplines would be highly advantageous
- Understanding of supply chain risks
- Experience working in a fast paced, agile commercial environment, where a focus on what is most effective – rather than what is 100% perfect – is more important
- A good academic record
- Professional Qualification (industry related degree, IRM, BCI, CII)
- Strong communication skills, in particular the ability to influence and challenge senior management
- Ability to bring a positive outlook whilst articulating necessary changes that will enhance resilience and robustness of ASOS
- Ability to create concise and accurate reporting and translate the headlines from those reports that is accepted within our unique culture
- First rate IT skills, particularly in relation to the use of Excel and PowerPoint
- Creative, forward thinking team player who is able to foster innovation
- Able to keep abreast of the external environment and willing to be involved in membership organisations e.g. AIRMIC, IRM, BCI to keep abreast on risk management best practises
- First rate attention to detail
