Protecting your employees in times of crisis

5th September 2017 10:00 – 13:00

JLT offices

Workshop overview:

The continually shifting nature of people risks due to geo-political change and natural disaster create unique requirements for organisations seeking to ensure the provision of 'duty of care' and contingency plan for high risk low frequency events.

Increasingly forward thinking risk managers' requirements for indemnity are moving away from the traditional silo'd insurance lines available, the result being that leading specialty brokers such as JLT and specialty insurers are adapting to provide more comprehensive solutions to people risk and solutions to the perceived insurance gap.

A two hour seminar looking at some of the available solutions for:

  • Global terrorism shifting from the targeting of assets to the targeting of people.
  • Emergency political and security evacuation.
  • Emergency disaster evacuation - natural catastrophe/industrial catastrophe/ pandemic
  • High risk accident and health - including medical evacuation.
  • Special crime and extortion.

JLT special risks team will be joined by specialty underwriters and responders to discuss solutions and provide recent case studies.

Who should attend?

  • Any business that has employees travelling overseas and/or any company that looks after high net worth/high profile customers for which they could offer this cover.
  • Ideally we want to target any persons who have direct ownership and oversight over risk management and crisis management such as security and/or risk managers, CEOs or CFOs. It does not matter whether you are a first-time buyer or already have some experience in this area.
  • You will be interested in this workshop if you are a risk or insurance manager with some experience on crisis management/business continuity management but wish to enhance and develop your understanding on this topic
  • You will be interested in this workshop if you are relatively new to risk and insurance management (with less than 10 years' experience) and wish to improve your understanding of this topic

Learning outcomes:

  • Update your understanding on how the special risks insurance market has evolved in response to recent security incidents
  • Learn about the new emergency evacuation insurance products available in the market
  • Broaden your understanding or learn about special risks insurance cover (incl. extortion/cyber extortion)
  • Learn how these coverages can underpin your duty of care obligation to your employees and reinforce your crisis management procedures.

Attendees should be prepared to discuss:

What gaps have they identified in their insurance coverage relating to this topic.
