Association will be challenging members and partners to demonstrate examples of meaningful collaboration, says CEO

The theme for Airmic's 2020 annual conference in Edinburgh is Working Together, the association has announced.

The theme is the natural follow-on from the New World, New Solutions conference in 2019, according to John Ludlow, Airmic's CEO. "At our last conference, the industry came together to debate how to respond to the challenges of the new world - and it was absolutely clear that greater collaboration, closer ties and the sharing of ideas must be at the heart of our response.

"We are living in the New World, in which risks are increasingly interconnected, unpredictable and fast moving. We in the Airmic community - in which we include insurers, brokers, risk services providers and all our other allies in risk - must work together more than ever."

Mr Ludlow added that the theme is not just a strap line for one week of the year: "Working Together is a way of thinking that demands action. Throughout the next 12 months and beyond, Airmic will be encouraging and celebrating examples of collaboration with meaningful outcomes."

BOOK FLIGHTS AND ACCOMMODATION EARLY

Members wishing to fly to Edinburgh are being advised to book flights early to take advantage of lower fares. Return flights to Edinburgh from London are currently on sale for under £80.

Partner Networking Brunches commence at 10.30am on 8 June, with the first keynote session starting at midday. The conference will end at 1.15pm on the 10 June.

A good selection of affordable hotel accommodation is now on hold for our members, book here.

Collaboration can take many forms, he added. For members, it might mean cultivating closer relations with other business functions to take risk out of its silo, or closer relationships with the market.

For the market, it may mean bringing competitors and customers around the same table to spark genuinely innovative solutions. Or it may mean enhanced communication with businesses as the pricing environment turns.

Mr Ludlow said he wants to see the Airmic community put words into action and make collaboration a reality: "We will be using the conference to celebrate the importance of Stronger Together and to challenge barriers to progress," he added.

Airmic's annual conference will take place 8-10 June 2020 at the EICC in Edinburgh. Exhibition stands are already on sale and registration for members will open in February. Delegates wishing to fly to the event are strongly advised to book flights early to get the best prices - see box.
